GOV’T AGENCIES URGED TO ADDRESS STUDENT, PWD, SENIOR CITIZEN ISSUES WITH TNVS
SENATOR Raffy Tulfo urged the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board to address complaints from students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) who are struggling to book Transportation Network Vehicle Services (TNVS) like Grab and Angkas.
Tulfo led a Committee on Public Service meeting to discuss various bills aimed at resolving transportation and commuter issues.
“Based on LTFRB’s study, what if we let the companies shoulder the discounts? One issue we’ve encountered, through consultations with students, PWDs, and senior citizens, is that the discount burden is partly on drivers, which discourages them from accepting these passengers,” Tulfo said.
The senators noted they’ve received multiple complaints from students, PWDs, and senior citizens regarding TNVS services.
Atty. Teofilo E. Guadiz III, LTFRB chairperson, agreed with Tulfo’s proposal and pledged to issue a memorandum circular for all TNVS operators.
