KINUMPIRMA ng pamunuan ng Globe Telecommunications Inc. na patuloy ang kanilang pakikipag-ugnayan sa Department of Education para sa pagtatayo ng cell towers sa mga campus.

Sa pagdinig ng Senate Committee on Public Services, sinabi ni Globe Telecoms General Counsel Froilan Castelo na pinag-aaralan na nila ang mga ilalatag na programa bilang suporta sa blended learning.

Ayon kay Castelo, kasama sa pinag-uusapan nila ng DepEd ang paglalagay ng cell sites sa mga campus kapalit ng pagbibigay ng bandwith na magagamit ng mga estudyante at mga guro.

Ginawa ni Castelo ang pahayag sa gitna ng pagtatanong ni Senador Richard  Gordon kung maaari ring makinabang ang mga paaralan sa mga cell site ng Globe sa mga military camp.

“Are they actually connected in the schools because this is one of the big problems with Covid. When we start opening the schools, we want to make sure that schools are capable of getting Wifi  or getting connected,” usisa ni Gordon kay Castelo.

“Your honor, what I can relay to you right now is that we are in talks with the Department of Education to do e-learning for them,” sagot naman ni Castelo.

Bukod dito, sinabi ni Castelo na nakikipag-ugnayan din sila sa iba’t ibang lokal na pamahalaan na nais na magkaroon ng special engagement sa kompanya  para sa e-learning.

“Part of the arrangement is the cell site location inside the schools which is again in exchange for the bandwith in schools. That’s part also of the negotiations and also maybe putting up an educational aspect with the mentors, we also provide training to the teachers, aside from a donation of equipment and gadgets for the teachers,” paliwanag pa ni Castelo.
