GABRIELA Youth criticized President Rodrigo Duterte for an incident on his birthday where he attempted to grope his househelp.

A video of the incident went viral. The video was taken during Duterte’s 76th birthday celebration in Davao with his family last Sunday.

The youth group slammed Duterte for his treatment of Filipino women.

“Having a macho-fascist president has worsened the situation of Filipino women —especially marginalized women in the PH,” the group said on Facebook.

“Duterte once again proved to us that he is the commander-in-chief of misogyny and fascism in the country. As women, we have to fight back! Oust!” it added.

Duterte in 2018 admitted doing something similar to his maid when he was a teenager.

Palace Spokesman Harry Roque said there was no malice in the President’s action because he was merely joking.

“Matagal na niyang kasambahay ‘yun. Alam mo naman talagang palabiro ang ating presidente. Pero walang malisya ‘yun dahil nakaharap naman doon si Ma’am Honeylet,” Roque said on Monday.
