ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION IPINASASAMA SA SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULUM
SA GITNA ng nararanasang environmental crisis sa buong mundo, iginiit ng isang kongresista na dapat bumalangkas ang estado ng mga polisiya hinggil sa pangangalaga ng kalikasan.
Isa sa nakitang hakbang ni Paranaque City 2nd District Rep. Joy Myra Tambunting ang pagsusulong ng panukala na magsasama sa environmental education sa senior high school curriculum.
Sa kanyang House Bill 7707 o ang proposed Environmental Education in Senior High School Act, sinabi ni Tambunting na dapat imulat ang kabataan sa tamang proteksiyon sa kalikasan at manguna na rin sa rehablitasyon nito.
“This initiative will also help younger crowds understand our intergenerational responsibility to the future generations to live sustainably so that future generations will be able experience our environment at the same quality or better than our generation does,” pahayag ni Tambunting sa kanyang explanatory note.
Alinsunod sa panukala, ituturo sa lahat ng pampubliko at pribadong senior high school ang enviromental education, partikular ang core subjects na Disaster Readiness and Risk Reduction, Earth Science o Earth and Life Science at Physical Science.
Kung magkakaroon naman ng pagbabago sa K to 12 currirulum, mandato ng Department of Education na maipapasok pa rin ang environmental science sa iba pang core subject.
“Environmental Education shall increase students’ understanding, awareness, and sensitivity to the environment and environmental challenges, and improve the attitudes and motivation towards maintaining environmental quality,” diin pa ni Tambunting.
