ACTRESS Gabriela Annjane ‘Ella’ Cruz maintained on Monday that she did not mean to offend historians with her remarks on the subject of history.

Cruz said that she respects all professionals but she had a different enlightenment regarding several parts of history, especially the Marcoses.

“‘Yung mga historians po hindi ko naman kayo meant na ma-offend sa sinabi ko. Of course, I respect all professionals po,” she said

“Ang topic in school po na nakilala ko sila dahil siyempre kasma ‘yun sa pinag-aaralan sa school… pero eto po kasi yung pagkakakilala ko personally sa ating Senator Imee Marcos po,” she added.

Cruz gained traction on social media after likening history to gossip which drew the ire of academicians, historians and netizens.

She defended her claim and said that validation of hearsay is where history is derived from.
