THE EDUCATION sector received the biggest budget allocation in the signed national budget for 2022.

The Department of Education got P592.695 billion. State universities and colleges, meanwhile, were given additional budget of P32.47 billion, bringing the outlay for state schools to P104.18 billion.

Earlier, Senator Juan Edgardo Angara, chairman of the Committee on Finance, said that the education sector will get a big slice from the national budget.

The fund will be used to help schools implement limited face-to-face classes.

“Education will continue to receive the lion’s share of the national appropriations. This will be particularly important as we consider the expansion of face-to-face classes to more schools across the country,” Angara said.
