EBET FRAMEWORK ACT: A KEY REFORM TO ADDRESS EMPLOYMENT CHALLENGES

/ 2 January 2025

SENATOR Joel Villanueva underscored the importance of the Enterprise-Based Education and Training (EBET) Framework Act as a crucial reform to address employment challenges in 2025.

Despite a relatively low unemployment rate of 3.9% as of October 2024, nearly 2 million Filipinos remain jobless. Coupled with rising inflation and frequent natural disasters, these issues continue to test the nation’s resilience.

Villanueva, author and sponsor of the EBET Framework Act, explained that the measure aims to resolve the persistent job-skills mismatch in the labor market by aligning education with industry needs. The law seeks to create more employment opportunities and strengthen the local workforce.

Additionally, the senator highlighted the impending implementation of the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP), which provides alternative pathways for Filipinos to further their education and careers, especially those unable to attend traditional universities.

Villanueva praised the resilience of Filipino workers, including Overseas Filipino Workers, for their dedication and sacrifices that contribute to the country’s progress. He also reflected on the need for peace and unity as the 2025 elections approach, calling for Filipinos to rise above political divisiveness.

“As we proudly raise our flag, let us continue working together to serve our kababayans and build a better future for the Philippines,” Villanueva said, expressing his hopes for peace, unity, and prosperity in the coming year.
