PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has signed laws that converted the names and statuses of five higher educational institutions in the country.
These schools are the Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology, Compostela Valley State College, Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology, Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture, and Occidental Mindoro State College, according to a report from the Philippine News Agency.
ASIST will now be called the University of Abra; CVSC was renamed Davao de Oro State College; BSCAST will now be the Southeast Asian University of Technology; ASSCAT was renamed Agusan del Sur State University; and OCSM is now known as the Occidental Mindoro State University.
The laws changing the names of these schools will take effect 15 days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.
The schools celebrated the signing of the laws.
“From the whole ASSCAT Community, our sincerest thanks to our dearest President Rodrigo Roa Duterte! We are immensely grateful for this success!” ASSCAT said on Facebook.
“With Excellence, Integrity, and Solidarity, we can now officially say, Hooray DdOSC!” CVSC said.
