THE DEPARTMENT of Social Welfare and Development will give indigent students financial assistance to help them with their studies.
THE DEPARTMENT of Social Welfare and Development will give indigent students financial assistance to help them with their studies.
“This program is aimed to help our indigent students all over the country, which means to say that children coming from poor families will be given cash assistance to buy their school supplies or whatever that they need in school such as school supplies, school fees, uniform, shoes, etc.” Social Welfare Secretary Erwin Tulfo said.
“Ngayon, sino po ba ang pupuwede? Lahat po ng mga bata na anak ng mahihirap, hindi lamang po solo parent, halos lahat na ho kasi eh – solo parent, magulang ay PWD, magulang ay may mga sakit, mga ulila na mga bata, mga batang anak ng tricycle driver, labandera, katulong, magtataho, jeepney driver – puwede po kayong pumunta,” he said.
Tulfo said DSWD will give elementary school students P1,000, high school students P2,000, senior high school P3,000 while vocational or college students will receive P4,000.
“Kasi marami ho ang nagtatanong: How many children? Ako ay may walong anak, limang anak; tatlo pong bata per family. So kung may dalawang kolehiyo kayong nag-aaral – isang first year, isang fourth year – tig-P4,000 po iyon, so P8,000 po iyon. Mayroon kang isang anak na senior high so P3,000 po iyon. So P8,000 plus P3,000 – P11,000 ho iyon,” he added.
The secretary said the program, which will start the disbursement of cash on Saturday, is under the DSWD’s Assistance for Individuals in Crisis Situation.
