DSWD BRINGS TARA, BASA PROGRAM IN PASAY CITY
THE DEPARTMENT of Social Welfare and Development has implemented the Tara, Basa! tutoring program in Pasay City.
It was held at Kalayaan Elementary School on July 11.
The college student-tutors will be conducting 20 reading sessions more for struggling and non-reader elementary learners.
Meanwhile, the Youth Development Workers will hold Nanay-Tatay teacher sessions for parents and guardians of the grade school beneficiaries.
According to DSWD, the said program is an educational assistance wherein college students from state universities and colleges are recruited as tutors and YDWs for which they are paid the equivalent of the regional minimum wage under a cash-for-work scheme.
In June, a total of 3,881 tutors and YDWs were trained on how to properly demonstrate effective teaching techniques.
Tutors were also provided guidebooks and manuals which were earlier discussed by DSWD.
