DSWD ASSURES STUDENTS TO GET CASH AID EVEN WITHOUT INTERNET ACCESS
THE DEPARTMENT of Social Welfare and Development assured all beneficiaries would get their respective aid despite the need to register online before receiving their education cash assistance.
THE DEPARTMENT of Social Welfare and Development assured all beneficiaries would get their respective aid despite the need to register online before receiving their education cash assistance.
DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao said field offices had already been mandated to contact these students especially those coming from underprivileged communities.
Large crowds overwhelmed the first week of the financial aid distribution last Saturday, with beneficiaries required to register online and wait for a DSWD text confirmation.
Assistant Secretary Romel Lopez suggested opening offsite payout centers where online registration isn’t required to make the program more accessible.
“Siguro po maglalaan kami ng mga dalawang Sabado muna para doon sa ating mga online,” Lopez said.
“Ngayon pa lang pina-fine tune na namin (‘yung plan), so kung ito po’y lumabas next week, next week po puwede na rin namin ibaba at siyempre i-inform po kayo regarding dito,” the official added.
According to Lopez, the DSWD now targets 375,000 to 400,000 recipients after the budgeted money tripled to P1.5 billion.
