THE DEPARTMENT of Labor and Employment and its partner employers will hire over 1,000 students under the Special Program for Employment of Students.

SPES aims to provide temporary employment to poor but deserving students and out-of-school youth.

DOLE-Kalinga said beneficiaries will work for 20 days for daily wage rates ranging from P367.55 to P472.55.

SPES beneficiaries will be assigned in villages to help in disinfection and sanitation and other tasks, in strict adherence to health protocols and guidelines.

DOLE allotted P3,698,824 for the program.

The department urged local government units to facilitate the processing of applications so that those hired can start work in June.
