MANY features of distance learning will be retained and implemented when the country goes back to normal post-pandemic, the Department of Education said.

DepEd Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan said that many aspects of remote learning will be the norm in teaching and learning.

“There are many things in the learning delivery process na nabuksan nitong panahon ng pandemic that will become regular features of teaching and learning,” he added.

The Covid19 pandemic prompted the DepEd to implement distance learning.

Late last year, the government allowed the gradual resumption of in-person classes in areas with low Covid risk.

Following the approval of President Rodrigo Duterte, the DepEd gave the green light to all its regional offices to begin the progressive expansion of limited face-to-face classes in public and private schools from February 9 onwards.

The expansion phase is the second stage of the Philippines’ three-way plan to reopen schools for in-person classes after almost two years of closures due to the pandemic. The first phase or the pilot run lasted for a month from November to December in 2021 and was participated by 287 public and private schools.
