HALOS 12,000 mga mag-aaral at 500 guro mula sa pampublikong paaralan ng San Juan City ang makikinabang sa Digital Teachers and Learners Project ng Department of Information and Communications Technology.

Sumailalim sa apat na araw na intensive training program sa alternative education ang mga nasabing guro ng lungsod.

Ang DICT, kasama ang Department of Education at ang lokal na pamahalaan ng San Juan, katuwang din ang mga leading trainer mula sa University of the Philippines sa Diliman campus, Cisco Net Academy, Q Software Research Corporation, Google Philippines at Habi Education Lab, ay nagtulong-tulong para turuan ang mga guro ng lungsod kung papaano gamitin ang education technology software at government-issued learning devices.

“To ensure the safety of educators and learners amid the pandemic, alternative delivery modes such as online learning and teaching need to be maximized, and through the partnership between DICT, DepEd, San Juan City, and the International Telecommunications Union – we will see a better new normal for the Filipino children,” pahayag ni DICT Sec. Gregorio Honasan II.

Binigyan diin ni Honasan ang kahalagahan sa pag-explore ng alternative learning methods habang ang pandemya ay nanatiling peligroso sa kalusugan ng mga mag-aaral at guro.

Ibinahagi din ni DICT Assistant Secretary for Digital Philippines Emmanuel Rey Caintic ang bisyon ng Kagawaran sa Digital Philippines na ayon pa sa kanya ang nasabing proyekto ay bahagi lamang sa adyenda ng ahensya na mapabilis ang digital transformation ng pamamahala, edukasyon, lakas-paggawa at mga komunidad sa buong bansa.

“The digitalization becomes all the more significant as we face this pandemic and as we move to the new normal because it offers our children a safer access to education. We sincerely thank Sec. Honasan for trusting us with this laudable program,” sabi naman ni San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora.

“DepEd School Division Office in the city of San Juan is filled with gratitude that DICT is committed to empower our teachers and learners to navigate the digital landscape and to champion the welfare of our children amidst the pandemic,” dagdag pa ni DepEd San Juan Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Cecille Carandang.
