THE DEPARTMENT of Information and Communications Technology set up a

free internet hub at the Bilaran Elementary School in Nasugbu, Batangas which served as temporary home for Taal evacuees

The department’s Luzon Cluster 2 provided the free internet through its Free Wi-Fi for All Program.

The emergency free Wi-Fi site will help evacuees contact their families and receive news on Taal’s volcanic activity.

It will also help students continue their online and blended studies.

DICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan II said  internet service is crucial during disasters.

“It is imperative to maintain connectivity and communication services for our evacuees and disaster responders to facilitate an informed and efficient action plan, hence we at the DICT will continue to connect the people in these areas through our Free Wi-Fi for All program,” he said.
