DICT PARTNERS WITH PPSC

/ 9 September 2021

THE DEPARTMENT of Information and Communications Technology partnered with the Philippine Public Safety College to boost ICT use for public safety and disaster resiliency.

DICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan II and PPSC President PDDG Ricardo De Leon signed a memorandum of agreement to promote the use of ICT to enhance key public services and implement capacity development programs for public safety and disaster resiliency building.

Under the agreement, the DICT will provide internet connectivity to PPSC offices and campuses, including free WiFi hotspots that allows them to implement capacity development programs.

The agreement is under Section 2 of Republic Act 10844 or the Department of Information and Communications Technology Act of 2015, which states that it is the State’s policy to promote the development and widespread use of emerging ICT.

“What we want to achieve in our digital transformation efforts in the government is to empower government agencies and instrumentalities to provide better services to the people through ICT, especially as we transition to a digitally-enabled society in the new normal,” Honasan said.

The PPSC is a critical public safety and disaster resiliency training institution of the government, providing higher education services for the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Bureau of Jail and Management Penology personnel.
