THE DEPARTMENT of Information and Communications Technology has launched a Child Online Safeguarding Policy for its Free Wifi for All Program.
In cooperation with The Inter-Agency Council against Child Pornography and SaferKidsPH, the DICT launched COSP to protect children from inappropriate sites.
DICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan II signed the policy that marks the implementation of the COSP.
Honasan said children deserve the freedom to explore but they should also be free from risks of the internet.
“Our children should never be subjected to these horrors or risks. They deserve the freedom to explore the wonders and learning opportunities of cyberspace — they deserve the chance to expand their horizons uninhibited by the shadow of such evils,” he said during the launch of the program.
“What children are, and what they will become, are, to considerable extent, dependent on how we protect and ensure their welfare, not tomorrow, but today,” he added.
