DEPED TO-DO LIST PROPOSED TO ENSURE SAFE START OF CLASSES
ASSISTANT Minority Leader and ACT Teachers Representative France Castro reiterated that the education department must accomplish a to-do list before schools reopen on October 5.
Castro stressed that the postponement of schools is an admission of the Duterte administration’s delinquent, negligent and ill-prepared priorities.
“Ang kawalan ng ginagawa at paghahanda para sa ligtas na balik-eskwela ng kabataan ay pagtalikod ng administrasyong ito sa kanyangntungkulin na magbigay ng edukasyon at respetuhin ang karapatan ng bawat kabataan sa edukasyon,” Castro said.
The solon proposed a to-do list for the DepEd to ensure the people’s right to education and safe reopening of schools.
The list includes ensuring adequate funding for all the requirements for education continuation amid the pandemic; ensuring schools are safe spaces and the health of teachers and non-teaching personnel are protected; providing laptops, gadgets, internet allowances for teachers and marginalized students; ensuring adequate number of modules for a 1:1 ratio for students; devising a fair system of grading and evaluation that is appropriate for the current situation and incorporating the pandemic in the curriculum to guide students on surviving this pandemic.
