DEPED STRENGTHENS ROLE IN ADVANCING TATAK PINOY LAW
THE DEPARTMENT of Education is reinforcing its role in implementing the Tatak Pinoy Law (Republic Act No. 11981), highlighting the critical part of basic education in shaping a more competitive and innovative Filipino workforce.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara emphasized that the law’s vision of a skilled, creative, and globally ready workforce starts in the classroom.
“Education is the foundation of Tatak Pinoy. If we want Filipino industries to compete globally, we must equip learners with strong fundamentals, modern skills, and exposure to high-value sectors,” Angara said.
The law is among the priority reforms endorsed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and is included in the Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council’s Common Legislative Agenda of the 19th Congress.
To support this, DepEd will establish regional Tatak Pinoy hubs, expand school-based fabrication labs and innovation spaces, deepen TVL–industry alignment, enhance teacher upskilling, and advance national skills mapping through DepEd’s data systems.
“These initiatives ensure that DepEd becomes a true engine of Tatak Pinoy — developing the next generation of Filipino talent who will drive a more competitive and future-ready economy,” Angara added.
Angara authored and sponsored the Tatak Pinoy Law when he was a senator.
