IN RESPONSE to the call of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. in his first State of the Nation Address, the Department of Education implemented various learning recovery initiatives to improve the quality of education in the country.
Under the leadership of Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio, DepEd adopted the National Learning Recovery Plan to immediately solve the learning losses in basic education caused by the Covid19 pandemic.
Part of the learning recovery is the return to in-person classes of 28 million students for School Year 2022-2023.
Despite the reimposition of face-to-face classes, DepEd made sure that blended learning and other alternative modes of education are available especially during disasters and calamities to ensure the continuity of education.
The education department will begin the National Learning Camp, a voluntary program at the end of the school year which will provide enrichment, integration and interaction sessions for students, on July 24.
The initiative will create a camp-like environment with engaging activities designed to develop student interest, socio-emotional skills, growth of one’s own abilities and character development.
