EDUCATION Secretary Leonor Briones said nothing can stop the opening of classes on August 24 and that  it will be “the day that the Lord has made”.

“Sa aming criteria ay ready na kami. Siguro sa criteria ng iba hindi pa kami ready, pero sa criteria ng Department of Education, sa criteria ng batas, sa criteria ni Presidente ready na kami,” Briones stressed.

Briones added that “readiness is relative”.

“Favorite example ko ang marriage. Not everybody feels that they are absolutely ready, 110 percent ready to get married but then when you get married, it works,” she said.

DepEd Undersecretary Revsee Escobedo said DepEd-Region 12 has reported  that it is ready for the opening and not the moving of classes to another date.

DepEd Usec. Nepomuceno Malaluan added that modules in Batangas will be ready in two weeks.

The uploading of necessary files at the DepEd Commons is expected to be finished before August 24.
