DEPED SETS DEC. 20 START OF 2-WEEK CHRISTMAS BREAK FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS
PUBLIC school students nationwide will begin their two-week Christmas break on December 20, 2025, following an announcement by the Department of Education.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Tuesday, DepEd said classes in public elementary and secondary schools will resume on January 5, 2026.
The holiday schedule is outlined in DepEd Order No. 12, series of 2025, titled “Multi-year Implementing Guidelines on the School Calendar and Activities,” which was issued in April.
Under the order, the Christmas break is scheduled during the final two weeks of December, with classes set to restart within the first week of January of the succeeding year.
DepEd also noted that private schools, Philippine schools overseas, and state and local universities and colleges may adopt the same calendar, provided they comply with the requirement that the academic year should not exceed 220 school days.
Schools are likewise directed to notify their respective regional offices in advance should there be any unavoidable deviation from the prescribed guidelines.
