DEPED ROLLS OUT GAME-BASED LEARNING

/ 30 April 2022

THE DEPARTMENT of Education, in partnership with Microsoft Philippines, has rolled out its game-based learning program that not only targets students but also teachers and parents.

The Minecraft Education Edition: DepEd Active Citizen Campaign brings together stories of Nobel Peace laureates and challenges learners to be engaged, passionate and diligent change-makers.

“This gamified tool captures the attention of our young learners because it’s easy to use and entertaining. This is a great opportunity for learners and educators to understand the life of Nobel Peace laureates and encourage them to be active citizens of the world,” Education Secretary Leonor Briones said.

M:EE was designed to encourage game-based learning with easy-to-use lesson plans, worlds and resources to create richer classroom experiences. It will also support the continuous rollout of Microsoft 365 through the utilization of M:EE licenses.

The Department introduced the latest in transformative learning through the Youth Formation Division and Information Communication Technology Service.

EdTech Unit Head Mark Sy said that Minecraft also instills values and helps bring out the best in learners.
