DEPED RECEIVES READING MATERIALS FROM USAID
THE DEPARTMENT of Education received over 11,000 ABC+ Classroom reading materials from the United States Agency for International Development that will benefit K-3 learners and K-3 teachers in 28 elementary schools in Pasig City.
According to DepEd, these materials include English Big Books, Listening Texts for Grades 1 to 3, and Tagalog Decodable Readers, which will help expand the knowledge and reading ability of students in Kindergarten to Grade 3.
Pasig City Congressman Roman Romulo, DepEd Assistant Secretary Dr. Malcolm Garma, USAID Philippines Education Office Director Michelle Chen, ABC+ RTI International Chief of Party Ina Aquino, SDO Pasig Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Jay F. Macasieb, and other local leaders of schools in Pasig were present during the event.
Garma, on behalf of DepEd Sec. Sonny Angara, expressed gratitude to Romulo and the local government unit of Pasig City for their support in the said initiative.
He also recognized USAID for its longstanding partnership with DepEd and for contributing to improving the quality of education for the students.
USAID Director Chen reaffirmed USAID’s commitment to supporting DepEd’s education initiatives.
