DEPED PRESENTS LEARNING RECOVERY PROGRAM

/ 20 May 2023

THE DEPARTMENT of Education has presented its learning recovery program before the members of the 2nd Congressional Commission on Education.

DepEd Assistant Secretary for Curriculum and Teaching Alma Ruby Torio, who presented the National Learning Recovery Program, admitted that learning losses in the Philippines had been severe.

The NLRP intends to mitigate the effects of learning loss through four distinct programs — National Reading Program, National Math Program, National Science and Technology Program and Learning Camp.

Torio said that the NLRP has to be learners-centered and learners-focused.

The National Learning Camp is a two-fold program that aims to improve learning either in the form of enrichment, intervention, or remediation held every end of the school year break.

Starting in July this year, the department plans to prioritize Grades 1-3 learners for Reading, and Grades 8-10 students for STEM and English.
