DEPED, ORG SIGN MOU TO PROVIDE CODING SKILLS LESSONS TO STUDENTS
THE DEPARTMENT of Education and the organization iamtheCODE have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide coding skills lessons to female high school students.
This initiative will be implemented in selected schools nationwide.
DepEd stated that it will “open opportunities and increase the interest of Filipino women in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, and Design.”
Education Secretary Sonny Angara and iamtheCODE Founder and CEO Lady Mariéme Jamme led the partnership.
First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, UN Women Goodwill Ambassador Karen Davila, Darlene Ty-Nilo of UN Women, Philippine Ambassador to Spain Philippe J. Lhuillier, and several members of the DepEd executive committee witnessed the signing.
iamtheCODE is an organization that provides opportunities to women in the STEAMD field. It aims to develop 1 million female coders by 2030.
