THE DEPARTMENT of Education gave assurances that it has installed measures to protect students from bullying in schools.
In preparation for the National Children’s Month 2022 in November, DepEd joined the Youth Talk: NCM Press Conference led by the Council for the Welfare of Children.
Michael Poa, DepEd spokesperson, said that the agency has preventive and responsive measures to ensure child protection in schools, especially in the matter of bullying.
“Pagdating po sa larangan ng mental health, specifically bullying and other form of abuses sa atin pong mga paaralan, we have policies in place at mayroon din po tayong ibinibigay na information, education and communication materials. Dito po nagke-create po tayo ng awareness at the school level,” Poa said.
Poa encouraged education stakeholders to strengthen and extend the protection of youth against abuse and mental health concerns.
“In the Department of Education, marami po talaga tayong challenges, but our challenges are not limited to the accessibility or quality of basic education, our challenges also necessarily include protection of our learners in schools,” he said.
“Kaya tulong-tulong po tayo, sama-sama po tayo, it takes a village to raise a child, so let’s be that big.”
