THE DEPARTMENT of Education will continue the Matatag Curriculum, however, there will be amendments, Secretary Sonny Angara said Tuesday

“So, whatever the learnings are for that first year, we will — kung baga iterative iyong process,” he said, adding that the amendments will be based on the experience of teachers and students.

“Meaning, we are willing to change as we go along, as we learn from the experience of actual — on the ground and then we get feedback din from our teachers saka ‘yung estudyante, ano ang kailangang baguhin, anong puwedeng pagandahin,” he said.

MATATAG stands for “Make the curriculum relevant to produce job-ready, Active and responsible citizens; TAke steps to accelerate the delivery of basic education services and provision facilities; TAke good care of learners by promoting learner well-being, inclusiveness learning, and positive learning environment; and, Give support for teachers to teach better.”

The DepEd chief noted the revised curriculum is a product of several years of study.

“We continue it. This is the product of several years of studying. And the direction, we are continuing direction,” Angara said.

The MATATAG Agenda was launched as the new direction of the DepEd towards improving the quality of basic education in the country, according to a DepEd memorandum issued last year.
