KINUMPIRMA ng Department of Education na ang kawalan ng kahandaan ng mga estudyante at ang physical distancing sa pagitan ng mga guro at ng mga learner ay malaking hamon sa pagpapatupad ng pilot face-to-face classes.

Ang pahayag ay ginawa ni DepEd Assistant Secretary Malcolm Garma sa pagdinig ng Senate Committee on Basic Education, Arts and Culture hinggil sa implementasyon ng pilot face-to-face classes.

“The third challenge that we have gathered from the field, from those participating, is the lack of preparedness of learners for the face-to-face learning, especially the Kinder and the Grade 1 because ito pong pupils in Kinder and Grade 1 are the ones who have not tried schooling because of school closures.  So, medyo naninibago po ‘yung mga bata to go to classes,” pahayag ni Garma.

Bukod dito, may kahirapan din, aniya, sa pagbabantay sa pagsunod ng mga estudyante at maging ng mga guro sa standard health protocols na ipinatutupad ng gobyerno, kabilang na ang pagsusuot ng face mask at face shield, gayundin ang physical distancing.

“Other challenges that were encountered in the field is the difficulty to hear the learners and the teachers, ‘yung teachers din because they are wearing the, ‘yung  audibility ng kanilang instruction is really hampered or impeded because of the muffled effect of the face mask. ‘Yan po ‘yung isang bagay na titingnan natin, on really how to address this issue,” dagdag ni Garma.

Ipinaliwanag ng opisyal na ang mga bata, lalo na sa lower grade levels ay hindi sanay na magsuot ng face mask sa kanilang mga bahay kaya’ marami sa mga ito ang madalas nagtatanggal ng mask sa klasrum.

“‘Yung mga bata hindi po sila sanay mag-face mask when they are inside their homes so ‘yung requirement for them to wear face masks inside their class is talagang masanay sila,” paliwanag pa ng opisyal.

“Dahil po sa excitement ng mga bata, hindi po maiwasan na they tend to congregate and to really touch each other because of the excitement to interact and to play with their classmates so ito po yung isang bagay na nahirapan yung teachers natin,” dagdag pa niya.

Aminado rin si Garma na hindi sapat ang tatlo hanggang limang oras na klase upang matapos ng mga estudyante ang kanilang mga aktibidad.

Hanggang noong December 15, nasa 287 schools ang lumahok sa pilot implementation ng face-to-face classes.
