DEPED JOINS PEACE EDUCATION SUMMIT
THE DEPARTMENT of Education aims to foster the culture of peace in schools by integrating it in the lessons in basic and higher education, an official said.
The department, in coordination with the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity and Commission on Higher Education, held the 1st National Peace Education Summit last September 26-27, 2022 in Davao.
The event sought to advance the integration of peace education in the curricular and extracurricular activities in both basic and higher education.
The DepEd’s delegation was led by Assistant Secretary Dexter Galban, who spoke on behalf of Education Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio.
Galban was one of the plenary speakers during the event and presented the department’s efforts in promoting peace education.
“With the support of our Curriculum and Instruction strand and our NGO & CSO partners, we look forward to further championing the culture of peace in our schools through improved monitoring & evaluation,” he said.
Galban was designated as the department’s representative to the OPAPRU Government Peace Negotiating Panels and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao – Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education.
