THE DEPARTMENT of Education and the Japan International Cooperation Agency  have reaffirmed their “strong and long-standing” partnership in support of the country’s development goals.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara welcomed JICA’s delegation, led by Mr. Baba Takashi, the agency’s new Chief Representative for the Philippine Office, along with Mr. Morishima Takanori and Ms. Sakamoto Rei.

“We are very encouraged by JICA’s keen interest in investing in the education sector of the Philippines,” Angara said.

He added, “We’re especially excited about potential collaborations in key areas such as disaster preparedness, student wellness, teacher training, education technology, and improving literacy and numeracy.”
