THE DEPARTMENT of Education has released guidelines to address the aftermath of Super Typhoon Pepito, focusing on the safety and well-being of teachers and learners while ensuring continuity of learning.

Under Department Memorandum No. 64, series of 2024, field officials are directed to coordinate with local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices and immediately report any casualties or displaced teachers and learners.
Schools are also instructed to activate their medical and DRRM teams, assess the safety of classrooms and facilities, and provide necessary interventions for affected individuals.
Additionally, Regional and Schools Division Offices are required to submit daily Situation Reports by 9:00 AM to monitor the situation, as outlined in the memorandum.
“The DepEd remains committed to prioritizing the safety and education of learners and educators in the face of disasters,” the agency stated.
