DEPED HOLDS COVID19 WEBINAR

/ 16 February 2021

TO PROVIDE information to teachers, students, personnel and stakeholders, the Department of Education has started holding webinars on the Coronavirus disease.

The department on Monday invited health experts to discuss the government’s  vaccination program and emerging developments about the virus.

Dr. Beverly Lorraine Ho and Dr. Althea de Guzman from the Department of Health, as well as Professor Nina Gloriani of the UP-Manila College of Public Health were the speakers.

Ho discussed the government’s Covid19 vaccination program, explaining the process of inoculation and who will be the vaccine recipients.

“Siguro ‘yong gusto lang din po nating ma-emphasize dito sa lahat is as much as we always want Science to be precise, to be very exact, Science is also evolving,” Ho said.

Guzman on the other hand talked about the new Covid19 variants and how these are transmitted and what could be the added risks while Gloriani shared the effects of the Covid19 vaccines.

The webinar aimed to enhance the DepEd’s response efforts by providing the correct information on the government’s program to address the pandemic.

Education Undersecretary for Planning Service, Human Resource and Organizational Development Jesus Mateo said that the webinar would help enlighten members of the DepEd community, including  teachers, parents, and personnel on the vaccination program.

“While we can now see the light at the end of the tunnel with the development of several vaccines alongside the government’s effort for the country’s vaccination program, we cannot let our guard down. Hence, it is more critical to improve public awareness and preparedness,” Mateo said.

He encouraged those who attended the webinar to share their knowledge with other people to help them understand the government’s interventions.

“We commit to support the government’s effort to promote information dissemination about the vaccine as well as about the new variants,” he added.

Education Secretary Leonor Briones earlier said that teachers would also aid the government in its vaccination program by helping in its information dissemination campaign to allow the public to understand the vaccination program.
