DEPED, FAST FOOD CHAIN TEAM UP FOR SHS CURRICULUM
THE DEPARTMENT of Education has partnered with a fast food chain to co-develop a Quick Service Restaurant Senior High School curriculum.
As part of its 50th anniversary celebration, the Jollibee Group also committed to building 50 classrooms nationwide by 2028. The initiative aims to help address the shortage of learning spaces and provide more students with conducive environments for learning.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara said the partnership with the Jollibee Group demonstrates how public-private cooperation can bring industry-relevant learning into the classroom.
“At a time when AI and tech disruption are reshaping industries and jobs, this collaboration gives our learners not only the right skills but also the resilience to thrive. The commitment to build 50 new classrooms by 2028 also shows how this partnership invests in both knowledge and space, ensuring that more Filipino students are equipped for the future of work,” Angara said.
Meanwhile, Jollibee Group Philippines Chief Executive Officer Joseph Tanbuntiong said they believe that “real, lasting change begins when students learn in safe, inspiring classrooms and see a clear path from classroom to career—when every Joy Learning Center is where hope takes root, and every QSR immersion is where that hope grows into skill, confidence, and opportunity.”
The program will pilot in schools nationwide and combine classroom-based instruction with immersive on-the-job training across Jollibee Group brands.
Students will gain skills in restaurant operations, including food preparation, customer service, safety and sanitation, and business communication—helping prepare them for careers in the food service industry after graduation.
