THE DEPARTMENT of Education is considering holding longer face-to-face classes.

Education Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan said that the mandated number of hours for in-person learning is not enough.

Only three hours per day are allowed for Kindergarten students and four hours for higher levels up to Grade 12.

“Based on our feedback from the teachers and the schools — because we have a monitoring and evaluation tool reporting every week —  one observation they have is that the time that we allotted for the face-to-face classes is just too short to maximize,” Malaluan said.

“This is something that we will review, with respect to the time allotment, with our counterparts in the Department of Health. This will be one of our agenda,” he added.

More schools have started conducting physical classes, including some in Metro Manila. The Education department plans to further expand the program coverage next year to include more schools.
