AS THE number of class disruptions due to storms rises to 35 this school year, Education Secretary Sonny Angara convened the National Management Committee to explore interventions to mitigate learning losses.
According to DepEd, the Cordillera Administrative Region has recorded 35 class disruptions, the highest number of school days lost, mainly due to natural disasters and calamities.
Other regions severely impacted, including Regions II, I, IV-A, and III, have experienced at least 29 class disruptions each.
In response, DepEd announced plans to implement the Dynamic Learning Program (DLP) to ensure learning continuity, especially in affected regions. The DLP can be used for make-up classes and catch-up sessions in temporary learning spaces.
Developed by education advocate and Ramon Magsaysay Awardee Dr. Christopher Bernido, the DLP will be a key part of DepEd’s strategy. Dr. Bernido participated in the ManComm meeting, providing insights and answering questions about the program.
