DEPED, DOH HOLD MEETING ON STUDENT HEALTH PROGRAMS
THE DEPARTMENT of Education and the Department of Health held a meeting to discuss interventions for improving the health of Filipino students.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara and Health Secretary Ted Herbosa focused on disease prevention, ensuring access to water in schools, and improving the nourishment of children aged 0-5 for brain development.
One of the programs discussed was strengthening the OKD-HLI (Okay ang Kalusugan sa DepEd-DOH Healthy Learning Institutions).
Angara emphasized that the program will address key health concerns among school children, such as disease prevention through immunization, reducing malnutrition, preventing suicide attempts, teenage pregnancies, and HIV infections.
The two agencies also aim to ensure water availability in schools to promote regular handwashing and proper hygiene practices.
Additionally, the meeting covered programs aimed at nourishing children aged 0-5 for proper physical and brain development, in preparation for entering kindergarten.
