THE DEPARTMENT of Education denounced the shooting incident in Isulan Central School, Sultan Kudarat that targeted an education official.

On Monday, gunmen shot Eric Balancio, 51, education program supervisor of Sultan Kudarat Schools Division Office, and his wife Norilyn, 51, a nurse at Sultan Kudarat Provincial Hospital.

Sultan Kudarat provincial police director Colonel Christopher Bermudez said that “the real target was Mr. Balancio based on bullet entry points.”

“While we find comfort in knowing that our personnel and his wife are safe, DepEd deplores such acts of violence against our dedicated teachers and personnel,” the DepEd said.

“DepEd implores our law enforcement authorities to swiftly investigate this matter and ensure that the perpetrators are promptly brought to justice,” it added.
