THE DEPARTMENT of Education has condemned the killing of a 14-year-old student in Talisay City in Cebu while she was reportedly answering her learning modules at home.

In a statement on Saturday (27 April 2024), DepEd said that no learner should fear for their safety while pursuing education at home or in school.

“The Department is deeply concerned and alarmed with the recent incidents of brutal killings of minors, especially girls,” the agency said.

“We urge the local authorities and the community to come together in solidarity against violence and to ensure the safety of all learners,” it added.

DepEd also called on the authorities to swiftly investigate the crime and bring the perpetrator to justice.
