DEPED CHIEF, SEN. AQUINO PUSH FASTER CLASSROOM CONSTRUCTION TO ADDRESS SHORTAGE

/ 9 April 2026

EDUCATION Secretary Sonny Angara met with Senator Bam Aquino on Wednesday to discuss ways to accelerate the construction of classrooms under the Department of Education (DepEd).

The meeting focused on strengthening ongoing efforts to address the country’s classroom backlog and ensure that students have access to safe and conducive learning environments.

The initiative is being implemented in coordination with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and local government units, aiming to deliver safe, adequate, and learner-friendly school facilities across the country.

Also discussed during the meeting was the proposed Classroom Acceleration Program Act, which Aquino is advocating in the Senate as part of broader efforts to resolve classroom shortages nationwide.
