DEPED-CAGAYAN VALLEY STEPS UP PREPARATIONS FOR SCHOOL OPENING
THE REGIONAL office of the Department of Education in Cagayan Valley has intensified its preparations for the opening of classes next month by forging partnerships with local government units and the private sector.
By enlisting the help of LGUs, the regional office conducted a dry run of the modular distance learning program from July 20-August 1, 2020. This enabled officials to identify problems and come up with solutions to ensure a seamless system.
The simulation enabled officials to find a better way to distribute learning materials in coastal areas.
Estela Cariño, DepEd regional director, said the aid given by the local government included financial assistance and manpower “especially in the distribution of our modules and guiding us in different protocols in relation of Covid19.”
The regional office also partnered with local radio and television stations and the Department of Agriculture for its The Radio Program.
Through this initiative, DepEd Region II was able to broadcast its pre-recorded lessons for all grade levels via The DA Cagayan Valley’s educational radio station DZDA-FM 105.3 Radyo Pangkaunlaran.
It also collaborated with the Department of Science and Technology for its teachers’ training through DOST-Starbook.
Cariño reported that the printing of self-learning modules is going on smoothly while the training of teachers is at its peak.
She vowed to give extensive orientation to parents on the distance learning programs and to give priority to the concerns of learners and their parents.
“Any problem experienced by the learner or the parents, as well as the community in relation to the implementation of Basic Education-Learning Continuity Plan, will be sent to our office so we can give technical assistance,” Cariño said.
Classes in public schools will begin on October 5.
