DEPED ANNOUNCES 20,000 VACANT POSITIONS FOR TEACHERS
THE DEPARTMENT of Education has announced the approval of 20,000 new teaching positions for 2025, as confirmed by the Department of Budget and Management.
According to DepEd, the new positions—which include Teacher I, Special Needs Education Teacher, and Special Science Teacher I—will be distributed across all regions.
Based on updated school directories, enrollment data, and validated teacher shortages, the highest allocations will go to Region IV-A with 2,655 items, followed by Region III with 2,152, and Region VII with 1,774.
DepEd also reported that the number of unfilled teaching positions has been reduced from 72,964 in August 2024 to 38,862 by April 2025. The national filling rate now stands at 96.03 percent—a significant improvement from 94.78 percent in 2022.
