CULTURAL EDUCATION PROGRAM PALALAKASIN
ISINUSULONG ni Bulacan 1st District Rep. Jose Antonio Sy-Alvarado ang panukala na maisama sa National Education Program ang Cultural Education.
Sa House Bill 2089 o ang proposed Cultural Education Program Act, iginiit ni Alvarado ang pagtutulungan ng National Commission for Culture and Arts, Department of Education, Commission on Higher Education at ng Technical Education and Skills Development Authority sa pagbuo ng mga plano at programa para sa Philippine Arts and Culture sa educational program.
“With the Cultural Education Program, the Philippines shall be ensured of culturally literate and empowered Filipinos who will have greater awareness, understanding and appreciation of their culture and arts,” pahayag ng kongresista sa kanyang explanatory note.
Alinsunod sa panukala, babalangkas ng special program for the arts curriculum bukod sa pagkaroon ng mainstream indigenous knowledge systems sa pamamagitan ng School for Living Traidtions model sa formal education system.
Palalakasin din ang K to 12 program ng DepEd, partikular ang may kinalaman sa heritage, culture at arts sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng teacher’s training, resource materials at competencies sa arts-related careers.
Nakasaad pa sa panukala ang pagbuo ng NCAA-DepEd-CHED-TESDA Cultural Education Program Committee na mamamahala sa lahat ng mga aktibidad para sa cultural education.
