CONGRESS TO PASS ROTC BILL

/ 11 October 2022

SENATE President Juan Miguel Zubiri confirmed that the Senate and the House of the Representatives agreed to pass at least six measures by yearend.

The priority bills include the Mandatory Reserve Officers’ Training Corps and National Service Training Program.

In the Senate, five bills were filed aiming to strengthen the Citizen Armed Forces of the Philippines through ROTC for senior high school and tertiary education.

The measures aim to organize the youth sector into a capable pool of reserve officers, inculcate the value of patriotism and encourage their involvement in public and civic affairs.

Zubiri said that to be tackled before the year ends are measures on Medical Reserve Corps; National Disease Prevention Management Authority/Center for Disease Prevention and Control; Virology Science and Technology Institute of the Philippines; Amendments to the Build-Operate-Transfer Law and the Condonation of Unpaid Amortization and Interest on Loans of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries.

“The cogs of the legislative mill are fully functioning. We in Congress have started on the right footing, on the right direction, kaya’t mataas po ang pag-asa namin na magiging madali ang ugnayan ng Executive at Legislative branches of government para matugunan ang mga pangangailangan ng ating mamamayan,” he said.
