COCOPEA TO SARA: ALLOW HYBRID CLASSES FOR PRIVATE SCHOOLS
A GROUP of private schools appealed to Education Secretary and Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio to allow them to have hybrid classes.
A GROUP of private schools appealed to Education Secretary and Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio to allow them to have hybrid classes.
Coordinating Council of Private Educational Association of the Philippines Managing Director Joseph Noel Estrada said that they are not against implementation of in-person classes.
“We are just appealing … to be given flexibility in delivering other platforms that support face-to-face classes,” he said.
“So, it’s not a full five-day in-person class. But instead, [we can conduct classes] with options for blended and remote learning platforms to supplement [physical classes] during the school week,” Estrada added.
He said that disallowing hybrid methods of learning will affect exposed or sick students as they will not be allowed to join in-person classes.
According to the Department of Education Order No. 34, all private and public schools shall conduct full face-to-face classes starting November 2.
School year 2022-2023 will begin on August 22.
