CHR BATS FOR SWIFT PASSAGE INTO LAW OF BILL ON HIGHER TEACHING SUPPLIES ALLOWANCE
THE COMMISSION on Human Rights is calling for the immediate enactment of measure increasing teaching supplies allowance.
THE COMMISSION on Human Rights is calling for the immediate enactment of measure increasing teaching supplies allowance.
The commission declared that increasing the supply allowance of public school teachers is one way of enhancing the quality of education in the country.
The CHR stressed the need to approve Senate Bill No. 1964 or the proposed Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act which proposes an increase in teachers’ supply allowance.
The bill seeks to institutionalize and increase the allowance from P5,000 to P7,500 in the Academic Year 2023 to 2024, then P10,000 in Academic Year 2024 to 2025 onwards.
“The increase in TSA under SB 1964 acknowledges the importance of adequately equipping teachers with the necessary tools and materials to carry out their invaluable work,” the commission said in a statement.
“By enhancing the resources for teachers, we concurrently take a significant step towards ensuring the realization of the right to quality education for all,” it stressed.
By addressing the financial challenges they are facing, the CHR believes it contributes to their right to work in decent conditions and right to an adequate standard of living.
“When society values and upholds the human rights and dignity of teachers, it will empower teachers to provide the best education for Filipino children,” the commission stressed.
