CHED WARNS PUBLIC AGAINST GHOST WRITING SERVICES

/ 20 January 2024

THE Commission on Higher Education warned the public against entertaining ghost writing services, noting it violates certain laws.

The development came after the commission got wind of reports regarding Facebook pages offering these types of services for essays, case studies, and theses for a fee.

“These pages are not in any way affiliated or approved by the Commission,” CHED said.

CHED also said these types of services are in violation of the Intellectual Property Code, E-Commerce Act, and Cybercrime Prevention Act, and asked the public to report such cases to the commission.

If caught, the students face dismissal, expulsion, or exclusion.

Ghost writing and other academic services are rampant on Facebook, with fees ranging from P100 up to tens of thousands, depending on the difficulty of the output.
