CHED WANTS COVID19 JABS DONE IN SCHOOLS

THE COMMISSION on Higher Education wants the vaccination of students, teachers, and employees done in schools.
CHED Chairman Prospero De Vera III urged big universities and colleges to convert their facilities into vaccination sites.
“The progress of the vaccination rollout can be easily monitored since they have their list of enrollees and students,” De Vera pointed out.
About 42 percent of college students, and 72 percent of teachers and school staff have been vaccinated against Covid19 nationwide.
“The 40 percent is already a high number given the fact that they started only on October 15. Now we want it to go higher faster,” the CHED chief added.
He said that vaccination hesitancy is not an issue in the academic community.
The commission hopes to vaccinate at least 80 percent of college students by the end of November.
It said that officials are aggressively pushing the inoculation of all employees and learners in HEIs to add another layer of protection during in-person classes.
Last week, the country’s pandemic task force allowed HEIs to resume onsite learning in areas below Alert Level 3. However, classrooms are limited to 50 percent capacity.
