CHED REVIEWING CEBU NORMAL UNIVERSITY’S REQUEST FOR FULL ONLINE CLASSES
THE COMMISSION on Higher Education is currently evaluating Cebu Normal University’s request to conduct full online classes until the end of the year.
Senator JV Ejercito said the request arose from concerns about the structural integrity of the university’s buildings and several permit violations discovered after a strong earthquake struck Cebu.
CHED Chairperson Shirley Agrupis explained that universities and colleges must meet specific requirements before being allowed to hold online classes. These include the readiness of their learning management system, the availability of learning modules, and stable internet connectivity.
Agrupis added that CNU had initially proposed shifting to online classes even before the September 30 earthquake, but the proposal did not go through the proper approval process.
She noted that CHED already has preliminary findings regarding CNU.
