CHED RECEIVES P21.4-M FROM PCSO
THE COMMISSION on Higher Education on Monday received P21.4 million from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office as mandatory contribution from the agency.
This is in compliance with PCSO’s mandate pursuant to Republic Act 7722 or the Higher Education Act of 1994 providing 1 percent of lotto gross sales to CHED.
The PCSO also released P17,005,497.30 to CHED through the Bureau of the Treasury last month.
The charity agency also turned over P22,058,902.37 to the Philippine National Police and P8,823,523.72 to the National Bureau of Investigation as shares from the Small Town Loterry for the second quarter of 2021.
The money is intended to support the PNP’s medical and health-related programs.
“PCSO’s partnership with enforcing agencies from the NBI and PNP has greatly helped the cause of the Office’s continuous drive in its expansion of its income generating products such as the STL and Lotto in turn to give back to its clientele from its various charitable programs,” PCSO vice chairperson and general manager Royina Garma said during the turnover of checks at the agency’s main office in Mandaluyong City.
“The NBI and PNP has battled suspected individuals and groups belonging to underground illegal gaming, this is why we are truly thankful for their services. This is our way of rewarding them for sincerest efforts in helping the government’s plight reduce existing such problems,” Garma added.
